transfer

one more post without pictures. we left the picture for this post sitting on the floor at the doctor's office.

the transfer went well yesterday. out of the 12 embryos that were biopsied we had 4 affected, 2 unreadable, 1 carrier, and 5 normal. the champ embryo was the carrier. we chose to put in the carrier and the next best (which also happened to be a female). both embryos looked really good and the doctor was very optimistic and excited about them. we froze the remaining embryos.

we chose the carrier because it was the best embryo, it will still be healthy and even though it's a pain who knows where the medical community will be in 20 years. we felt like it was the right decision for us this time.

so now i am lying on the couch until tomorrow. my back is already sore from staying in the same horizontal position. and because my ovaries are still oversized the doctor wants me to stay down as much as possible for the next couple of weeks. good thing i'm stocked with some good books to read.

we head in for our pregnancy test in 12 days. fingers crossed that all goes well. and if we are pregnant it's gonna be a girl! how many people get to know the gender of their baby before they know if they are pregnant?

10 on tuesday

1. the retrieval went well on friday. i don't remember a thing but jared says i participated in the conversation the whole time. and i didn't get sick at all this time!! we got 23 eggs, 18 were mature, 14 fertilized and 12 were biopsied. we head in tomorrow morning for the transfer.

2. i went to a good friends reception on saturday night. she looked stunning and i got to see some great friends from high school. love you guys!

3. picked up grandma m., great-grandma c. and aunt katie from the airport on sunday. they had quite the ordeal...delayed flight, damaged luggage and lost bags.

4. had a birthday party for aubrey sunday night. there were a ton of people here and lots of good food. after dinner jared disappeared to his room to get away from everyone. it made me feel happy that he does this to his family too and not just to mine.

5. i'm finally feeling like myself again - energy levels, emotions, etc. i'm down to one shot now. progesterone. jared gives it to me each night in the hip. one night jace was watching and i explained to him that we need to do this so i can get pregnant and we can have a baby in our family. after the shot he asks, "so are ya pregnant now mom?"

6. my dad had is guns out and jace asked "can i shoot you grandpa?" of course the answer was no so he asked "well, can i shoot the lamanites then?"

7. our cilantro is growing like crazy except i'm pretty sure it's not cilantro. it doesn't look or smell like cilantro. not sure what it is so if anyone is good at identifying plants head over this way.

8. jace is in grandma heaven right now. he does not want me or jared to help him with anything, just grandma. they play together all day and jace is lovin' it.

9. i haven't picked up my camera for almost two weeks. but i'm going to today so i can have pictures on the blog again. there's just too many words right now.

10. happy tuesday!

a little more for wednesday

1. had an ultrasound today. everything looks good and we will do the retrieval on friday. i'm still exhausted and i'm experiencing some uncomfortable cramps do to enlarged ovaries. i have spent most of the day on the couch sleeping and reading while jace and jacob have played and reaked havoc on my house. but, i did finish my book (no.2 in the great and terrible series) and it was pretty good.

2. gatorade. jared loves it, i don't. for the next few days i am supposed to be drinking as much gatorade as possible. i guess now that my ovaries are enlarged they suck all the electrolytes out of me and gatorade is the best way to replenish it. it will help prevent dehydration and getting sick.

3. jace got to meet president monson last friday evening. of course the first thing he did was pull his shorts up and show off his massive cut. he then proceeded to tell him what happened and how he had to go to the doctor to get stitches. he did eventually shake his hand and that night without prompting he said "thank you that i could shake the prophet's hand today" in his prayers.

4. i just realized today that if everything works out and we do get pregnant then i will probably be exhausted for the next, i don't know, eighteen months. it's a good thing babies are so sweet and pure and perfect when they get here. it makes it all worth it.

5. everything is so green in utah right now and i'm loving it. it really is beautiful here.

10 on tuesday

1. i ran my first 5k ever on saturday for the utah hemophilia foundation blood run. i am still not a fan of running but after the race i decided that i could probably do it again. jared, my sister alexis, and four of my cousins ran it also.

2. jared broke a garage window this weekend while he was golfing.

3. enjoyed my plowman family reunion on saturday afternoon. it was good to see all my cousins and their cute little kids.

4. i asked jace what he was doing in the bathroom this morning and he said he was checking his engergy levels. not sure where he got that one but he said his energy is good.

5. i am now taking three shots every night. i am feeling somewhat sane but it has zapped me of all my energy. i just want to sleep all day.

6. jace got his stitches out yesterday. he freaked out more about that than when he actually cut his leg.

7. we picked up my little brother, jacob, yesterday and brought him home with us. he will stay the week and play and help watch jace when i'm at the doctor. jace loooooves hanging out with his uncle jakey!

8. we are looking forward to jared's mom and sister coming for a visit next week. jace keeps asking when we get to go to the airport to pick up grandma. it's been awhile since we've seen them...i'm thinking about a year. good thing we have skype so we can stay connected.

9. jace starts swimming lessons next week. i'm excited about the teacher we got. he will be doing it with two of his little friends. it should be a lot of fun.

10. now i have to think of something to make for book group tonight and summon enough energy to clean my house.

swinging + singing

i don't know if i've wrote about this before but one of jace's favorites is swinging. if we go to a park with swings that is what he does. i really think he could swing for hours. i'll admit, sometimes i purposefully go to a park without swings. i just get tired of pushing, that's all.
Photobucket

he has recently taken up the art of swinging and singing. singing at the top of his lungs whatever pops into his head. one day it was the snowboard song and the car song. another day he sang the story of the three little pigs.
Photobucket

oh and he had is first collision with a pedestrian. the little girl walked right in front of him. i knew it was going to happen, i just couldn't stop him fast enough. he came out of it with a nice bruise on his forehead.

hidden treasure

we found this little treasure at d.i. for $1. jace has been wanting a lightening mcqueen backpack and was thrilled when he spotted this on the shelf. i'm pretty sure it's going to become part of his daily outfit. at least it matches his helmet that also makes a daily appearance.

sunglasses

my mom bought these sunglasses for jace while we were in park city. he wears them everyday. he even wore them to church on sunday. so, thanks mom, they've been a hit!

something we all need to remember. and something i hope to teach my children.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

10 on tuesday: park city edition

1. we spent memorial day weekend and then some in park city with my family this year. park city is beautiful this time of year and even though it wasn't quite warm enough for swimming (at least for me...it has to be hot!) the weather was spring-like and perfect.

2. we played in a ping-pong tournament at the condo. all of us lost in the first round except jared. he made it to the semi-finals.
Photobucket

3. jace was obsessed with the arcade room. jacob and nicholas enjoyed it as well.
Photobucket

4. we introduced my family to letterboxing and had fun searching for the ones around park city. we got rained on. we got a little competitive. (jared asked my mom if she was worried about getting a ticket and her reply was "i'm pretty sure i can talk my way out of it".) we found our first hitch hiker. we watched a fly fisherman in action. and we saw a lot of park city.

5. the outlets were great and all of us added to our summer wardrobes (okay so it was mostly just jace and i but jared did pick up some new basketball shoes).

6. we toured the olympic park and learned some really cool facts. i will definitely be throwing them out from time to time while watching the winter olympics this coming year. i rode on the extreme zipline, which is supposedly the worlds steepest zipline. and jace has decided he needs to take up ski jumping.

7. we went to the movies to see night at the musuem 2. jace stood in the aisle the whole time. maybe he had a better vantage point there?

8. we spent one day at hogle zoo. the bird show was awesome and jace had a bird take a dollar out of his hand.

9. we stayed up way too late visiting and making plans...

10. thanks mom and dad for a great get-away. we had a fantastic time!
